Remember Me Posted September 14, 2025 #1 Posted September 14, 2025 Flea market find today. The one with the knights helmet comes up as. USAFE Weapons Center. And it looks like scribbled Latin on the bottom. I am guessing the E is for electronic. The 68 FMS comes up as Foreign Military Sales. Can anybody tell what the thing is in the center of the patch. Thank you.
Solution yokota57 Posted September 14, 2025 Solution #2 Posted September 14, 2025 USAFE: United States Air Forces in Europe. 7272d Aircraft Gunnery Group // 7272d Flying Training Wing was at Wheelus Air Base, Libya. That is a tasty oldie! I don't know what the device is on the 68th Field Maintenance Squadron patch.

Remember Me Posted September 14, 2025 Author #4 Posted September 14, 2025 Thank you. Goes to show what Google images doesn't know. The second one looks like sewing thread type thing on the bottom. But also something on top that would tighten. Thank you for your time and information.

The 68th FMS was at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC. B-52-era.
Remember Me Posted September 14, 2025 Author #6 Posted September 14, 2025 Do you think that first one is foreign made and they just scribbled what they thought was English. Or does it make any sense. Thanks.

Randy Posted September 17, 2025 #8 Posted September 17, 2025 It is the 7272d Flying Training Wing was at Wheelus Air Base, Libya. The script is Arabic. The patch was designed by Robin Olds when he was the gunnery group commander there circa 1957. There was a separate AGG patch for a while. Your patch is Japan made, here is the original German made version with cleaner text, though who knows how accurate this was. Also the AGG patch, which is also Japan made and huge. Randy
Remember Me Posted September 17, 2025 Author #9 Posted September 17, 2025 I had a friend that was in the Airforce that was stationed in Libya. He was a mechanic. I bought my 1952 M38 off of him. Thank you.
