Need help ID'ing an estate sale EGA

Saw a grab bag on a table at an estate sale I stopped in on today. 

 

Spied this silver tone bird in the mist of the bag so I grabbed it. I'm showing it next to a more modern hat badge EGA that was in the bag as well. It is marked "STERLING" across the anchor cross bar. Is it a uniform EGA (what model would it be?) or a sweetheart piece. Thanks in advance.

These are very nice quality sweetheart pins.  Haven't been able to pin down a time frame but most likely WW2 era.
