Hey everyone,

I picked up this helmet lately and thought it was a pretty cool piece, not sure of the exact model as the label is hard to read. The inside is in rough shape, but the custom camo paint job displays beautifully. Last name on helmet is "Stone."  I was wondering what were these USAF helmets with the boom mics used for?

Nice helmet for sure!!!

boom mics are usually indicative of low speed aircraft, such as helicopters, cargo, observation etc..

interesting on your helmet, the O2 receiver has been removed, and the mount for the mic is installed upside down, generally the mount faces down and usually if the helmet has a O2 mask receiver, the boom mic is mounted to the receiver vs removing the receiver..

Looking closer, the earphones look to be from the black USAF headsets… the earphone retaining string looks to be wire vs the cord string, and the holes for the wire are not factory…

IMO… this was put together… most likely period correct in the field, by a crewman..

👍👍🇺🇸✌️
