Jcamp Posted August 13, 2025 #1 Posted August 13, 2025 Can anyone identify this piece of kit? The snaps date to around 1912. It has 6 pockets, 2– 5x7”, 2- 6x7”, 1- 5x14” and 1- 16x14”. Light canvas material and no handles or straps except the one which appears to bind up the roll.
atb Posted August 13, 2025 #3 Posted August 13, 2025 Looks like a roll up pack for personal toilet articles.
Jcamp Posted August 14, 2025 Author #4 Posted August 14, 2025 I thought of that, but the toiletry roll, which I have found, is smaller and has pockets that fit a straight razor, comb, shaving brush, etc. This has large pockets, particularly the 14”x16” (which might be the size for a spare shirt). Possibly a cantle roll for cavalry? Or, perhaps an insert for a saddle bag or to roll inside a blanket roll.
