Wft2180 Posted August 5, 2025 #1 Posted August 5, 2025 Hello All, I just had a question concerning the DSC medal, when it was awarded in a presentation case during WW2, did it come with a lapel pin? I have gotten mixed answers. thanks, Will
Dave Posted August 5, 2025 #2 Posted August 5, 2025 Yes, 100%. When it was in the coffin case, it had the lapel pin, a ribbon bar, and one or two lengths of ribbon.
Wft2180 Posted August 5, 2025 Author #3 Posted August 5, 2025 Ah okay perfect I was curious, is it fairly common for the pin to be missing?
Allan H. Posted August 5, 2025 #4 Posted August 5, 2025 Here is one right out of the woodwork. It is exactly how it was issued in 1945. Allan

As for your question regarding the lapel pin, yes, it is common to see the lapel pins missing, but I would attribute the missing pins to the veteran wearing them in the lapel of his suit jacket after leaving the service.
