Helodoc2 Posted August 2, 2025 #1 Posted August 2, 2025 I just picked up two sealed spam cans of .30/06 ammo. They are labelled: “192 cartridges Cal 30 Ball M2 8 Rd Clips
Helodoc2 Posted August 2, 2025 Author #2 Posted August 2, 2025 Continuing the post— sorry. Bandoleers Lot HXP 4064-78. Does anyone have reference data which will identify manufacturer and year of production? I really don’t want to Break open the cans to look at the headstamps. Thanks in advance.
Helodoc2 Posted August 3, 2025 Author #4 Posted August 3, 2025 Thanks. Any information as to production year or location of Ammo Plant? I appreciate your guidance. Any idea why the labelling is in English?
Helodoc2 Posted August 3, 2025 Author #5 Posted August 3, 2025 Thanks again— another question. Do you have any idea if it is corrosive or not?
Helodoc2 Posted August 3, 2025 Author #6 Posted August 3, 2025 OK, I gather that it is non-corrosive. Still wondering why it is labelled in English. If this was produced for the Greek military, I would have assumed markings in Greek. Was it perhaps produced specifically for the US market?
doyler Posted August 3, 2025 #7 Posted August 3, 2025 I would go to the CMP boards or forum. Since a lot of the HXP ammo was sold through the CMP for the most part. There is a lot of info there on ammo and other topics. Also there are corrosive ammo charts on line for the US made ammo
Helodoc2 Posted August 3, 2025 Author #8 Posted August 3, 2025 OK, will give it a try. Thanks for the input.

Any idea why the labelling is in English? Greek Powder & Cartridge Company S.A. also known as PYRKAL. Merged with Hellenic Arms Industry in 2004. The ammunition was marketed to the US which is why it was in English. It was the go-to ammunition for many of us who shot full auto Brownings in past years. It was also packaged in bandoliers on five round stripper clips.
Helodoc2 Posted August 4, 2025 Author #10 Posted August 4, 2025 Thanks for the Info— I appreciate your expertise.
