U.S.S. Tirante

Good morning everyone. Does anyone know what these thing are? Also, is this pin the Tirante?

The U.S.S. Tirante (SS-420) was Tench Class submarine launched August 9, 1944.

 

They appear to be clips of some sort, maybe to mark a place in a book or ships log?

They may be "Napkin Clips" from the Officers Mess.

The "Third Officer" one is curious. That's not a normal Navy officer designation. Merchant Marine, sure. Navy, no.

"Third Officer" is a now disused title aboard US Submarines.  It was used to denote either the senior department head or the Wardroom Chief of the Boat (aka the COB)

 

...and yes, they are wardroom napkin holders/clips
