Once you get a steady job you will have money for hobbies. Until you get a place of your own. And a car. And a wife. And a kid. And a dog. Then, even with a paycheck, an extra 40 or even 5 bucks for hobbies was a fond dream for a while for me. I took a bit of a break from active collecting for a while until I was able to get more comfortable with life. If you love the hobby, you will find a way to finance it. It sounds like you are doing the best you can now. I don’t know what your career goals are but my dear daughter got her RN degree just a couple of years ago and her paychecks make me want to faint. Her current “hobby” is travel. She has been on 4 honeymoon trips this year and two more on schedule before the holidays.

Yes. I also have a few pieces stored away for car money eventually. I he collecting. It’s really the only thing I do in my free time. So it is very close to my heart in that sense. I’ve always been doing it on a budget. So it’s no worry. Just having something stable is a problem right now. I’ll be able to get a job soon.

Is your messaging out of bandwidth or turned off?  Wanted to ask you about one of your finds.

Gear Fanatic, I sure hope you find the info you're looking for . Keep in mind the records department had a fire years ago and a lot of records where lost to it, my fathers included. I was notified years ago about a hack and mine were lost also so you may never know. Sounds like you have a pretty good start and handle on things, work hard and stay true, keep things in perspective and best of luck

You're welcome.  Wasn't much but at least there was that division.  The Americal Division was very active in Vietnam during those years.

Yah, seeing as he enlisted/was drafted in November of 67 it would make sense that he was tranced to them as Tagt was when they were formed in Vietnam. Thank you for that. Hopefully once I get his full records it will shine some light on what he did, his MOS, etc. thank you.

8 pages later, So what now? I’ve been on crusade to find this man’s unit, I’m sorta at a loss now? What do I do besides finding out minor info about him? Do you guys think this would be a good helmet to make a nice display stand and write up for? Or is it not that level? Suggestions welcome.

thanks to everyone who helped out, @P-59A, @Rakkasan187 @aznation and all the others that helped out, thanks for the guidance and knowledge, really appreciate it.

For your question of if it's a good display item, that's for you to decide for yourself, not others.

This is a site that is all about the history of items. Having an item is nice but its the history of that item that truly matters. Keep digging then tell us its story.

Sounds good, I’ll keep digging till there’s nothing left to question. Either way thank you all for your help. Really appreciate it.
