Dirk Posted July 4, 2025 #1 Posted July 4, 2025 After a long search, was finally able got get some 6mm ammo to display with my Winchester Lee Rifle. This was the type of rifle the Marines used to defend the US Legation during the Boxer Rebellion. The small wood block printed Imperial Chinese flag was brought back by a Marine several years after the rebellion, but before the dynasty fell.
Flightpath Posted August 11, 2025 #2 Posted August 11, 2025 Nice rifle, and great to find the 6mm ammunition, that´s really hard to find!

My father in law here in Norway has a gun safe, when I moved here from Australia he showed me what he had, typical Krag hunting and target rifles but at the back was this little Remington roling block carbine, almost mint condition with a leather sling (dated 1899), brass muzzel/front sight cover and a leather rear sight cover. there were no markings on it except for some Kongsberg proof stamps and a serial number in three places. It looked like it was about .30 caliber. He had no idea what it was, just that it was his grandfather´s rifle. I did some research and found it was one of about 2000 made for the army engineers while they waited for the Krag engineer carbine to be produced and issued in the mid 1890s! I found 4 rounds of 8mm Danish in his basement, the carbines were that caliber. The reason for mo markings was that the large rolling block action was milled down on the sides to lighten it. Still waiting for him to give it to me!
Dirk Posted September 1, 2025 Author #5 Posted September 1, 2025 That’s fantastic! Hoping you will get it and it remains in your family !
