My condolences to Eric's family and close friends.

Besides Marine Corps and Working Dogs expertise, he was a fantastic contributor in other venues of this forum. He was a true wealth of knowledge about WWII forerunners of modern-day Special Operations units including 1SSFs, OSS as well as Merril's Marauders. I had the pleasure of adding several items to my collection from Eric. He also provided some great photos of 1SSF members and only asked that you contribute to a K9 rescue organization he supported. He will be greatly missed by many on this forum and will leave a gap in the knowledge base of this forum.

God Bless you Eric Queen, Rest In Peace.

Very respectfully,

John

Very sad to hear this.  What a gentleman he was on the forum, and generous and kind with his knowledge and insights.  A great loss to the community.

It's always sad to lose a font of knowledge, but especially so when the individual shares broadly.  And a dog person...sigh.  Godspeed, Eric.

Sad news. May he rest in peace. I remember he and his father, Bob from the Great Western Shows in the late 1980s.

I’m shocked and saddened to read this. I always enjoyed all of my interactions with him.

Sad news. I never had any interaction with him but I hope he is at peace.

I don't believe I ever had the pleasure of interacting with him, but when I was a new member here I was very impressed by his depth of knowledge and willingness to share what he'd learned with others. Over the years I've appreciated his contributions to the forum, learning more about military dog handlers, USMC Div insignia, and more. My condolences to his family and friends, he will be missed here.

it really stinks to lose the older generation of collectors because of the wealth of knowledge that they have about topics. Rest In Peace

Does anyone know how old he was?

I never met him personally but it sounds like he was fairly young.

Eric was 60 years old.  His death was caused by liver cancer.

Eric

Was a great genuine class act person who always had time for me. His knowledge in WWI USMC was second to none. Very sad loss for the militaria community. R.I.P you will be sorely missed.

I certainly viewed Eric as a pillar in our community here.

Most recently, he and I exchanged a couple of pages of PMs this spring - unsurprisingly, about military working dogs and their handlers.

We talked about our shared love and admiration for dogs, and it was obvious to me that his was genuine and deep.

I am sharing a link to his obituary, with my apologies if this has already been done:

Have peaceful rest, Eric, and thank you for everything.  🐕‍🦺

Incredibly sad news. Eric was always kind to ask and answer questions to further the hobby. Eric was above approach in all conversations and dealings. If he knew I was interested in something that I asked his opinion he would not bid on it, even if he was interested in it. Our hobby lost a legend. Rest in peace. I just wish I could have found your bullion dog handler scroll.
