Edward C Bell Posted June 7 #1 Posted June 7 Hello everyone. I am making this post, because like many others my family's military items have been lost over time. If anyone has anything from a man in the army named "Edward C Bell" from WWII, that would be my great uncles. anything from a man in the army named "Oliver Herbert Berg" from WWI, would be my great grandfathers. and anything from a man in the navy named "John Mark Martin" from WWII, that would be my grandfathers. if anyone knows where any items from these men are or have them, please let me know. Thanks, Edward.
GWS Posted June 30 #2 Posted June 30 I offer no help but a suggestion--- If you can identify the outfit or even a division these men were in would be a big help in finding anything on them. Knowing where they were from might help also. Start with FindaGrave, and go on from there. Good Luck in your searches. Steve
Rakkasan187 Posted June 30 #3 Posted June 30 Edward, This may have also been brought to your attention that if you had not already considered reaching out to the National Archives (NARA) to get the records as a relative/NOK, you may be able to get replacement medals for them as well, free of charge. Steve Oliver Herbert berg served in the 91st infantry division and was a radio operator in the field. edward C bell served in pattons 3rd army but no info on what division he served in. john mark Martin served in Hastings naval ammunition depot in Nebraska and was 2nd in command there. maybe this will help?
GWS Posted July 1 #5 Posted July 1 Edward-- Is this your great grandfather?---https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/171226378/oliver_herbert-berg I looked up Edward C. Bell on FindaGrave and found 137 memorials with that name! More information about him would be needed.(birth year, year of death, where buried etc.) John Mark Martin returned 472 memorials. (more info needed). It takes a large amount of time to research any individual and that's with much more information than you have provided here. The more information you have about them, the better your chance of finding something, including their history in the military. Good luck in your searching! Steve

Thank you for your continued research and interest in my search. I also have just gottenA free trial to ancestry which should really boost my research.
GWS Posted July 2 #7 Posted July 2 Here's another site I've used: https://www.familysearch.org/en/united-states/ Looks like your on your way to learn about your ancestors--enjoy your search! Steve
