I think those are WW2 US Navy Aviator goggles...... Emphasis on the words I think. They would be worn with the Navy version of the Leather flying helmet. Its a different helmet. Forum member bazelot, may have the largest collection of WW2 navy flying helmets on the planet?
The Rooster Posted May 31, 2025 #3 Posted May 31, 2025 For the A11.... You need a pair like the orange ones or the dark ones above on the left side.
P-59A Posted June 1, 2025 #4 Posted June 1, 2025 It should have an AN stamp on the nose bridge for both Army and Navy. You see these on 42-43 USAAF photos. The early ones were one piece rubber and later two piece. They had different colored lenses and head straps.

Where did you get all of this info? Wow :( These are standard AN6530 goggles with dual cushion vs single cushion. Used by both: NAVY and AAF flyers with ALL types of helmets during the war. For A-11 they will work as well...
DBeard Posted June 1, 2025 Author #7 Posted June 1, 2025 I do have these goggles also, probably for infantry but they look pretty good. Would a throat mic go with this setup? Going back to militaria show this morning and a guy has one in box he's holding for me.
phantomfixer Posted June 1, 2025 #8 Posted June 1, 2025 The OP are AN6530 used by every service for a multitude of tasks, mainly aviators but not limited to…. the goggles in #7 look to be post war based on the box, the goggle will have a date on the face plate near the strap..the goggle should also have more data on the top by forehead

doyler Posted June 1, 2025 #10 Posted June 1, 2025 As stated, the AN6530 were used both by the AAF and USN/USMC. Contracts on the box would designate service branch of supply. You will see the two piece cushions and also the full face cushion. Are the rubber cushions original or replacements? There are companies making them. Either style will work with an A-ll series helmet. The full black rubber goggles used by the Air Corps are marked B8 and as stated have the chamois liner for the face flange. I have seen some of the general issue dust and wind goggles used with flight helmets but its not real common. Navy versions of the dust and wind goggle have USN in a circle on one side of the face flange and the date in a circle on the other side. The Army style have US and date. Navy contracts are ususall prefixed with NX or NXxs etc. B8 goggles with Brit flying helmet. Common to see in some later war Fighter group ETo units
doyler Posted June 1, 2025 #11 Posted June 1, 2025 you can find boxes marked from Polaroid or Rochester Optical.
doyler Posted June 1, 2025 #12 Posted June 1, 2025 The early B8 goggles were known as the Polaroid Model 1065 and came in a brown box with a snap front here is an old post done by Paul as its easier then retyping all the info.
doyler Posted June 1, 2025 #14 Posted June 1, 2025 Goggles are 1065 and the kit with goggles is designated 1068
