ZigZag1 Posted July 6, 2011 Share #601 Posted July 6, 2011 I love the early duck hunter stuff. Does anyone know the name of that pattern on the bush hat the Vietnamese man is wearing around the 5:00-5:10 mark? I have a genuine Duck Hunter bush hat from Stansales in Japan. What year could this have been from? It has a hook to attach the brim to the side of the hat and it has a bowtie on that side made from the same pattern. Thanks. Norton Posted July 8, 2011 Share #602 Posted July 8, 2011 I love the early duck hunter stuff. It's hard to make out. it could be very faded Lizard french bush hat. I also noticed a ARVN troop at frame 10.03 with a German MP 40. You can see the muzzle and the distinct un-folded stock latter in the frames. You can make out a Swedish K with it's stock un-folded. This is interesting to see German and even Japanese weapons used early in the war. Is that SMG a French weapon used in their Indochina war turned over to the Southern Goverment. A dead VC battlefield pick up or did the CIA give it to the local village defense force. These are some of the reasons I am fascinated with this time period in South Vietnam. I feel the same looking at American troops with WW 2 clothing or drinking from a WW 2 Japanese Canteen

Mike Force Posted October 31, 2011 Share #616 Posted October 31, 2011 GREEN, RED ,YELLOW :crying: I pulled it out of a box full with very dirty and nasty worn out vietnam war fatigues and jungle jackets. Back at home I cleaned it a bit first bacause it was stinkty like hell! The size appears about A-S to A-M!? It shows some fraying at the bottom end of the shirt and also seven buttons are missing..... but I guess I leave it like it is?

kammo-man Posted November 4, 2011 Share #622 Posted November 4, 2011 Here is something very different. A jump smock in an early 65 ish Beogam. Its a mix between a M-42 US jump jacket and a German WW2 Bone sack. Cloth is the same thick brushed cotton as on my survival vest . Has thick plastic zips and pop studs. Very unusual . owen
