gunbarrel Posted July 24, 2008 Share #180 Posted July 24, 2008 I just picked up this duck hunter camo outfit. It's never been used and it has been packed away since the 60's. It was made of rayon in Japan and the label says "RETCO." The print looks very similar to some of the photos posted earlier. I know that not every duck hunter outfit from the 60's was worn by the military in SE Asia but I undertand that these belonged to a guy in the service. I will iron it out and take pictures of it and post them soon. It's kind of hard to tell on these photos, but the jacket has two lower pockets with buttons and flaps. The pants, size 33, have belt loops and tabs with buttons for additional adjustment. The pockets are also of the type with flaps and buttons. Any comments will be appreciated. Thank you. MattD Posted August 19, 2008 Share #184 Posted August 19, 2008 Here is another interesting set of Duck Hunter/Beo gam camouflage uniforms from my collection. This is probably one of my favorite uniforms This set came from a Special Forces NCO who was tasked to the CIA to help with the "Cuban problem", he helped train the Cuban exiles for the Ill-fated "Bay of pigs" fiasco. This NCO actually went to the Camo company in Florida and bought the uniforms for the unit.
kammo-man Posted September 18, 2008 Share #185 Posted September 18, 2008 After a long wait I found in one of my footlockers my 2nd model jungle boots . Now I started to build my 1964ish Special Forces BeoGam guy . I am using a Viet made patrol cap , a 2 pocket shirt with the 13 star metal buttons and 5 pocket trousers ,also with the metal buttons . The jacket and trousers are a A-L size and are mint condition . I ran out of time the other night so his LBE will go on tonight . One question . Is the black web belt correct for this time period ? just a little closer you can see the belt and cap well
Copran Posted September 18, 2008 Share #186 Posted September 18, 2008 Yes, black belt is correct, but usually, they didn't tug the shirt in the pants when wearing camo uniform After a long wait I found in one of my footlockers my 2nd model jungle boots .Now I started to build my 1964ish Special Forces BeoGam guy . Copran Posted October 6, 2008 Share #193 Posted October 6, 2008 Few pics of the rangers wearing BeoGam shirt, one made in Vietnam cut that you can see from the beginning of this topic (with the Vietnamese seal), these pics were captured from CBS news from the Tet offensive with Gen Loan (few minutes before he shot the VC prisoner). Hi Here a set of ARVN Beogam that was used almost by Rangers and some of the ARVN Seals. The cut is like ARVN Fatigue: padded shoulders, elbows and knees. The shirt has 2 squared pockets, the pants 4 pockets. No QM Marking
