Span AM? National guard maybe badge

Good morning forumn, I hope everyone is doing well.  I am hoping someone can help me identify this badge.  Looks like a haversack and a bedroll.and has "23" on oack which I am guessing is unit #. If anyone is able to provide me any info on this it would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance, Gary

New York National Guard, early 1900's. Probably 23rd Regt. Not my area of knowledge but this type of .badge occasionally comes up in New York state groups.
