Help with USN Helmet Marking

Just picked this up.  FS/SB USN helmet in salty grey.  Marking could be LO or 40 I’m not sure.  Any help that you may provide will be appreciated.

I’d agree it looks like a 4, but I couldn’t think of a reason you would need the marking 4o on a helmet.

for me that's a 40 and this is just an inventory number and not a hull number
