yast Posted May 13, 2025 #1 Posted May 13, 2025 Hi here, I have this helmet since years, it looks fine to me but I wanted to hear your opinion. Also have you ever seen a helmet with this type of insignia ? It was sold by an antique marketer in Metz. Thanks for your opinions.
gap Posted May 15, 2025 #2 Posted May 15, 2025 From what I understand, the 28th division keystone insignia did not have a white outline until post-WW2.
yast Posted May 15, 2025 Author #3 Posted May 15, 2025 Hi, ok, I didn't know that. I wonder how it landed on a market in Metz. It's worth digging in the photographies of the time. Thank you
manayunkman Posted November 11, 2025 #4 Posted November 11, 2025 Very interesting helmet. Is your keystone off center?
yast Posted November 11, 2025 Author #5 Posted November 11, 2025 Hi, Indeed, yes the keystone is not well centered. Are you from Belgium ? I saw once a helmet very similar to this one, which was sold by a belgian merchant.
awm Posted November 30, 2025 #6 Posted November 30, 2025 Keystone insignia with white borders are not post wwii. They are wartime painted and can be seen in period photos in the early spring 1945. The helmet in question looks fake though. The paint looks modern
yast Posted December 1, 2025 Author #7 Posted December 1, 2025 Anychance to see these photos ? I don't think the paint here is fake, I believe it's real.
