Hi here, 

 

I have this helmet since years, it looks fine to me but I wanted to hear your opinion.

Also have you ever seen a helmet with this type of insignia ?

It was sold by an antique marketer in Metz.

From what I understand, the 28th division keystone insignia did not have a white outline until post-WW2.

Hi, ok, I didn't know that. 
I wonder how it landed on a market in Metz.
It's worth digging in the photographies of the time.

Indeed, yes the keystone is not well centered.

Are you from Belgium ? I saw once a helmet very similar to this one, which was sold by a belgian merchant.

Keystone insignia with white borders are not post wwii. They are wartime painted and can be seen in period photos in the early spring 1945. The helmet in question looks fake though. The paint looks modern

I don't think the paint here is fake, I believe it's real.
