Very interesting movie about a little known story of d-day.

I do wonder what the Faith is of the movie no better place to die.. i believe this movie would portrait this story.

I can't speak exactly to the mindset. I did not serve. I do have friends who are actual combat vets, my Grandpaw was one of them, I'm sure a vet will correct me if I miss something. My understanding is that in bootcamp you are trained to push your self imposed mental and physical limits beyond anything you thought possible. You are trained to perform your job under any circumstances. It is drilled into you that you are a part of a team and the goal of the team is the mission, whatever that maybe. Other teams have other missions and what your team does will affect other teams. In the US military every team is taught to move foward with the mission, everyone understands what needs to be done. If the Lt. goes down the Sgt. takes over. No matter who goes down the next highest rate takes over. This is one of the things that sets the US military apart from other militarys. In the HBO movie Band of Brothers they have a seen between Pvt. Blythe and and Lt. Speers. They have a talk about his combat ineffectivness. Pvt. Blythe needed to accept he was already dead to be effective. I think that is your question. The question is not is this a good place to die. The understanding is my sacrafice moves the mission foward and may save the lives of others in the long run.

In the movie Saving Private Ryan Cap. John Miller rationalizes the losses under his comand in the same manner. They are two sides of the same coin. When Carpazio is killed he was stepping outside of the mission statement. The whole movie is about the mission. It comes up over and over again.
