DDBAILEY Posted May 9 #1 Posted May 9 I am hoping someone can identify these ribbons that were worn by my Dad's oldest brother - a Veteran of WWII, Korea, Vietnam. I have identified all but these three: 1) Far left on single ribbon rack, 2) Middle in top row of 3-ribbon rack and 3) Middle in second row of 3-ribbon rack. I have checked all the sources I could find on the web. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Blacksmith Posted May 9 #2 Posted May 9 1) National Defense Medal 2) American Campaign Medal 3) Army of Occupation Medal (upside-down) Those three are pretty faded, which is what's thwarting your ID attempts. That's what they look like to me anyway.
DDBAILEY Posted May 10 Author #4 Posted May 10 Also have these pins in same box as ribbons. What is significance of 701 below US collar pin?
atb Posted May 10 #5 Posted May 10 The "701" is a unit number. The other disk on the soldier's uniform would show the type of unit. For the Army Distinctive Unit Insignia, from left to right, 17th Infantry Regiment, 22nd Infantry Regiment, and 34th Infantry Regiment.

Based on the DUI identifications, the 701 may be theb701st Maintenance Battalion. I think they are all 7th Infantry Division units.
