ScottG Posted May 5 #1 Posted May 5 Hello, this came into the museum several years ago and I posted it in the wrong area of the forum... I am hoping someone can help confirm or even expand on the little research we have been able to do. It is named to R. Wonders and came out of a very old collection in Michigan. We found an Ernest R Wonders of Elwell Mi who was in the 7th Marines in WWI not much else, and not really sure if he is our guy. Any help would be appreciated. Scott
ScottG Posted Sunday at 02:20 AM Author #2 Posted Sunday at 02:20 AM Still hoping someone with some genealogical skills can help us identify this marine. Here are a couple of shots of the inside of the blouse. Scott
BEAST Posted Sunday at 10:55 PM #3 Posted Sunday at 10:55 PM I did see in FOLD3 a SGT Roscoe Wonders, USMC, who served aboard the USS Washington in 1909. He enlisted in 1907 and it appears that he is from Ohio. More research is needed but it does fit. The articles are from a 1907 Fort Wayne, Indiana paper

The jacket is from a fairly local former collector and we are only about 2 hours from Fort Wayne. I would certainly like to learn more if you are able to find anything. If Marine promotion was anything like Army promotion I would guess Mr. Wonders served for a while as he was a Sergeant when he used this blouse. Thank you again. Scott
BEAST Posted Wednesday at 11:02 AM #5 Posted Wednesday at 11:02 AM He made sergeant by 1910 while still aboard the Washington. Here is an entry from her logbook.
