Lynch Posted April 26 #1 Posted April 26 Hello all. I picked up this helmet locally and im curious about the liner etc. There is a US 58 stamp inside the crown. Its the tortoise style color inside. The helmet cover is undated. I believe the liner date reads 1968? Any info helps. Thank yall.
Jones_Bradock Posted May 26 #2 Posted May 26 IMO it looks like a fairly basic Vietnam helmet if all of the parts are original. Look up the contract # on the cover, check the leather sweat band for a two digit year, look at the bail strap connectors. The triangular "A" shaped washers that hold the suspension are a always a good indicator of a Vietnam helmet with that type of suspension. If the parts are all of the era it looks like a pretty well preserved example of a Vietnam helmet.
Lynch Posted May 26 Author #3 Posted May 26 Thank you. It looks like the liner is dated 68. Liner has the US 57 stamp mold inside dome of liner. Anchor stamped chin straps. Cover seems to be dated around 65-66 i see the steel helmet is an ingersol made helmet. Only thing that isnt correct is the helmet band with cats eyes. Looks like the old first batch of cats eyes that came out. Thanks again.
