Is this some kind of radio?

This is from the game GOLIATH AC130 Spectre Gunship. This "radio control box thingy" sitting on the pallet is said to be a LEGENDARY obtainable that boosts the duration of all your support units.

 

From that description, I can comapre this gizmo's potential to that FBI antenna van from Payday 3. In fact, I think of this radio thingy as the military/army cousin/equivalent of the FBI antenna van from Payday 3.

 

But... do any of you know of the origins of this radio box? I feel this device could be useful to boost all my assault units. Now I just need some vehicle and some laptop to make it fully functional.

Appears to be a: Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS). Was our main vehicle radio when I was in some 20 plus years ago.

Late to this post, but appears to be a type of PRC radio. They're embedded inside on the gunship to establish comms with people on the ground for targeting. Conversely, guys on the ground use the radio to contact the gunship. 

Or it could be a SINCGARS like ludwigh says.
