WWIIEnthusiast123 Posted April 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 12, 2009 I found this shirt/jacket (seperately) while in a thrift store. I have a general idea of what the shirt is but I'm not sure about the jacket. Any thoughts/tips would be helpful. The shirt is a "Women's Utility Shirt" from the "Defense Personnel Support Center" as stated on one of the tags. I don't know what division the patch is or when it's from. A nice feature is two rows of buttons/button slits (flaps underneath either side).

WWIIEnthusiast123 Posted April 12, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted April 12, 2009 I was very interested in the jacket. It has a low collar, only one top pocket, strap type things at the bottom, non-permeable synthetic wool, and buttons/a zipper with "Talon" on it. On the back the numbers 733 then below 04(1? It's very faded) are printed.

WWIIEnthusiast123 Posted April 12, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted April 12, 2009 It is made of 50% nylon, 50% cotton.
Bob Hudson Posted April 12, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2009 It is made of 50% nylon, 50% cotton. That's basically a Navy deck jacket and the 733 probably refers to the Trident submarine USS Nevada SSBN 733, and the 04 may refer to one of the sub's departments such as Navigation/Operations, Weapons, Engineering, Supply, and Medical. Bob Hudson Posted April 12, 2009 Share #11 Posted April 12, 2009 Isn't this type of jacket nam era? or post nam? It's hard to read the label, but that looks like post-Vietnam. You can almost always tell if something is from the Vietnam War era because it will have a contract number beginning with "DSA." Later they went to "DLA" and then started using various other prefixes.
