USMC mystery

IN H avery CHenoworth History "Semper FI" page 117 are two pictures of unknown USMC detachment on a battleship..that had 3 14 inch turrets...

Only 4 battleships had these turrets...USS Nevada; USS Oklahoma; USS Pennsylvania USS Arizona

 

The USMC NCO Corporal wears a Fourragère [The French Fourragère, a braided cord worn on the shoulder, was awarded to the 5th and 6th Marine Regiments for their heroic actions during World War I, particularly at Belleau Wood, and these are the only Marine Corps units authorized to wear it. ]

 

PS the unknown USMC detachment on page 71 is part of a series of pictures of the USS Kearsarge (1861)

The source for the photos was not the question.  What is your source indicating the USS Nevada; USS Oklahoma; USS Pennsylvania and  USS Arizona had  '..that had 3 14 inch turrets...'  ??

I checked and these four vessel were the only ones that had triple 14 Inch guns

You may want to check the Idaho, Mississippi, New Mexico, California, and Tennessee.  My sources indicate each had triple 14 inch main battery turrets.
