I went and bought a repro Mitchell cover a month or two ago and graffed it up, then let it get some sun and finally covered it in red clay then washed most of it off.

 

This isn't really meant to be particularly "historically representive" of a typical graffed helmet of that time, just a bit of fun 

 

Btw, "NVA Sont Couyon" is my attempt at Cajun French, and in affect would mean "NVA are foolish/dumb"

I like it!  A fun idea and looks pretty darn good!

Try rubbing the helmet (with a rock or brick?) around the rim to fray the cloth cover somewhat. That seems to be an area of wear on authentic covers.
