kiaiokalewa Posted March 17, 2025 #1 Posted March 17, 2025 What do I have here? Will take better individual pixs if necessary. Aloha, John
ScottG Posted March 17, 2025 #2 Posted March 17, 2025 No expert here but many US WWI and WWII grenades, at least one British Mills bomb on the bottom second from right, far right bottom is French and the 4 above it are French WWI rifle grenades. Scott
bbmilitaria Posted March 17, 2025 #3 Posted March 17, 2025 Looks like 4 WWI MK1 grenades, WWI gas grenade, WWI MKII training grenade, 4 early WWII MKII grenades in yellow, 1 WWII MKII grenade, 1 WWI French offensive grenade, 1 WWII French defensive grenade, 4 WWI VB rifle Grenades. Very nice pile.
Marshallj Posted March 17, 2025 #4 Posted March 17, 2025 Well to me it looks like you might have live ordnance.
Persian Gulf Command Posted March 17, 2025 #5 Posted March 17, 2025 Nice group of Grenades! Hopefully they are inert. Can the fuzes or the American Grenades be screwed off? If not, they would be considered concerning. The two circled in red should be safe as the base plugs are removed. Pictures of the top of the spoons (fuzes) of the American Grenades would be helpful.
kiaiokalewa Posted March 17, 2025 Author #6 Posted March 17, 2025 They come apart (inert) here's a few unscrewed. A few other things to review too.
Persian Gulf Command Posted March 17, 2025 #8 Posted March 17, 2025 I can only speak about the U.S. grenades, if the fuzes unscrew and there is nothing in the grenade cavity, they are inert. That is as long as the fuzes have been "cooked" off. I defer to others regarding the non-U.S. grenades
danimal03 Posted March 18, 2025 #10 Posted March 18, 2025 yes, very nice grouping. The yellow painted US grenades seem to be early. When WWII broke out, I believe the yellow inventory were painted green. Then I think around 1942 the order was given to paint them green with a yellow stripe on top of the body. I think the yellow stripe was eventually dropped late in the war. I am by no means a grenade expert, but this is what I seem to remember. I recently picked up a green one with yellow painted stripe. Pure WWII grenades have really gone up in value over the years. I do not recall seeing a pure pre-WWII yellow painted grenade that did not have the green overpaint.
kiaiokalewa Posted March 18, 2025 Author #11 Posted March 18, 2025 Here's some more stuff. Relax guys they're inert as well.
kiaiokalewa Posted March 18, 2025 Author #13 Posted March 18, 2025 I'm not sure where exactly to put these on the forum so what the hell I'll just post them here. They are not your run of the mill type militaria.

silverplate Posted March 20, 2025 #16 Posted March 20, 2025 Quite a nice collection. Balloon Winch Telephone? First I've ever seen. Did you pick these items up in Hawaii? I know there were a lot of bases/training areas on the various islands. Thanks for sharing.
kiaiokalewa Posted March 20, 2025 Author #17 Posted March 20, 2025 I figure it should post this. I don't want anyone to think I have live grenades.
blitz67 Posted March 22, 2025 #18 Posted March 22, 2025 What you have there is what I call a "SCORE!!!!!!!"
Edward C Bell Posted April 7, 2025 #20 Posted April 7, 2025 awesome collection! if you guys don't mind me asking, what is a good site for cheap WWII ordnance. i feel like its been getting harder to find original ordnance for cheap.

I hope I find it before you, all kidding aside such a site does not exist in my experience. If you want ordnance cheap you need to get off your butt and search high and low for it and maybe you’ll find something.

ccyooper Posted April 16, 2025 #23 Posted April 16, 2025 Very nice display of grenades and early ordnance. Thank you for sharing. I know a few of us would really like to stumble upon some of those items to fill gaps or upgrade some of the pieces in our collections. As was mentioned, the fuzes are what make your grenades and mortar munitions so desirable. I have not seen it or him for awhile but there was an old guy at a local l show attend that had a phone like yours (I think). It was a balloon phone. While I couldn’t find evidence of its use, he said it was used at the Soo Locks in addition to barrage balloons or cows that were flown there doing WWII. He would say it was for sale, but you could never get a price, 😂. Thanks again for sharing! Regards Ps - nice pigeon box!
