Picture of General Douglas MacArthur and Then Captain Herbert G Hopwood on the Uss Cleveland

I just very recently discovered this picture of then Captain Herbert G Hopwood standing with General Douglas MacArthur while on the Uss Cleveland sometime in June-July 1945.

 

General McArthur was the guest VIP onbord the Uss Cleveland during the amphibious landings at Brunei Bay, Borneo in July 1945. McArthur watched the landings take place from the bridge of the Cleveland and then went ashore to due a survey before returning to the Cleveland.

 

Hopwood was the Commanding officer of the Uss Cleveland from August 14th 1944 until July 3rd 1945.
