Alexander H. Abels mustered in/out with Co C, 71st NY as a private, age 21. Bishop and Elliott's "American Society Medals" comments that this version, all-bronze, was the least popular of the three versions BB & B made (the other two were gold and enamel and silver-gilt and enamel) but also the least expensive, $1.75. So, ironically, despite the price, the bronze version is the rarest.
