WW2 Air Transport Command pilot’s wings

These were given to me by my neighbor when I was a kid. He ferried aircraft all over the world during the war. Said one of his most memorable missions was flying home female Army nurses who had been POWs of the Japanese in the Philippines. Miss having all the WW2 vets around to talk to. Wings are marked sterling and have a hallmark from a manufacturer in Utica, NY

Very nice !! I was fortunate enough to obtain a Japanese Type 94 Pistol, complete with ‘Capture Paper’ that was brought out of Kimpo Japanese Air Field in Korea, January 1946. The Pilot went on to author  Book about his WW2 Transport Command Service titled, “Tokyo Trolley”. I was sadly too late to interview him as he had since Passed Away.

I don't know how to ask for more information since I'm new, but I hope you can find the link to e-mail me from kgh.knoxcotn.org
Two of our alumni were sisters stationed at Bataan.  One escaped in the air lift; the other was held for the duration.  I'd love to know more of your friend's story to add to our information.
