MasterK Posted February 27 #1 Posted February 27 Correct Magazine has been ordered and should be here tomorrow, appears to be an all-matching COLT 1911a1 with ghosting on the retainer, and matching serial numbers on slide and frame. The grips are hollowed out, Weapon functions great. Has a unique serial number also. 3 pairs. I plan on making a display box and keeping it in a showcase at my office. Still finding out info, and anything I find I am printing out and making a folder to put with this collectable item. Mainly so someday someone will have all the info and not have to do any research. Throw out any info you might have. Thanks,
ThreeMile Posted March 11 #5 Posted March 11 I own three Colt 1911s but none of them have matching numbers. Great find!!
MasterK Posted March 12 Author #7 Posted March 12 I found one job at a few days after finding the weapon. Actually found 3 and a Vietnam era holster.

I made the display from a cigar box and items I had collected over the years. Numbers matching 1911A1 1942 Barrel still has plenty of life left in it with good bore. I have field stripped and cleaned and lubricated with a protective coating. I had been looking for several years for a matching COLT 1911A1 I did find a correct magazine, and a Vietnam era holster. I will be looking for a WW2 holster, but not that important as it will be in my display case in my office. I got a great deal on it, local find. I am sure it will shoot, it is just a matter of, will I? Or is the collectability more of a don't take a chance? I have other shooters, but it is tempting. A piece of history that goes with some other collectables I have. Thanks for the comments.
