SGT Wade Posted February 24 #1 Posted February 24 Hello all. I am trying to research my great-grandfather. I, sadly, only have a little bit of information to get started on. That's why I'm looking to you guys (and gals) for help. Stephen Maurice Hadden (14 SEP 1924 - 5 APR 1991) Apparently he was born in Washington D.C., but I have my doubts. Stephen (Pronounced like "Steven," not sure why anyone would pronounce it "Stefen" but they do) was in the Navy. I think he might have been a captain, but I know for sure he was a chaplain. Don't know anything else, but I do have a little tale that might help a little. Apparently, he was on a ship at Pearl Harbor one day. His ship got orders to leave. Turns out, they left 2 days before the Harbor was bombed. His ship immediately went back to the Harbor after that. Any information helps! Thanks, Levi

I still think he was a chaplain, however. It's a little hard to explain why.
blitz67 Posted March 12 #4 Posted March 12 I’ve never heard of an enlisted chaplain. I think we can say for 100% certainty he wasn’t a military chaplain. Maybe civilian but not military

I do know that he was a pastor and a missionary in Jamaica just after the war, so maybe that's what my father was talking about. Thanks!
