Retirement Certificate before the usual one with the full color seal of the United States at the top.

Hey thanks Bill -- but this one  is only black & white.  In hand it's an impressive thing.  Any $ value to it?   He made it to AF L/Col and died in '90.   Good hunting, David

I have seen a few of these before, the interest would be what he did during his Army/AF Career - I suggest putting some research with this.

Bill is correct. It is a retirement certificate, not a discharge.

Maybe his son? I have never heard of anyone retiring and coming back in as an officer. Unless something unique like a doctor?

Thanks! The plot thickens....  if I better knew the Nat. Archives I'd try and find him...

Is there anything on the back? A friend's father was a sailor during WWII. His discharge certificate had all his campaigns and awards typed on the back. Like a short version of a DD-214.
