BlueBookGuy Posted February 18, 2025 #1 Posted February 18, 2025 hello, happened upon a vintage kneeboard maker-marked as ''PILOT'S PAL, Manitowoc WIS'', please does anybody know more of that? Apparently many subvariants (if I can call this way) all being made in somehow crude fashion, just bare aluminum in its natural color and a simple 'butterfly' holder clip. Undoubtedly more than just an randomly-made artifact in artisan style, yet not so much more - at least, as for what it looks like. Any infos about civilian or military usage, and what the timeframe could be? Thanx in advance.
DD937 Posted February 19, 2025 #2 Posted February 19, 2025 There was a lot of aluminum manufactured in Manitowoc and all of the companies had their name on the item. A picture would be helpful.

dmar836 Posted February 20, 2025 #4 Posted February 20, 2025 Civi. They still make these "knee boards" today.
DD937 Posted February 22, 2025 #6 Posted February 22, 2025 This was apparently made by Mirro Aluminum in Manitowoc WI for about 5 years. It is not marked in the fashion that MIRRO marked their military goods which is either A.G.M. over the date or later MIRRO over the date.

DD937 Posted February 22, 2025 #8 Posted February 22, 2025 Looks like it was designed by a local businessman, fabricated at Mirro aluminum, assembled and packaged by an organization the worked with people who had cognitive issues and sold civilian pilots like himself.
