Any information on what this US WW2 fuze went to would be great. My grandfather worked at the Arsenal in Watertown Massachusetts during WW2 building bombs, this is one of his I inherited from the arsenal that I cannot figure out. Closest example I found on the internet was a half destroyed one that was British ordnance but gave little information. I would love to know the history behind this fuze, and what type of weapon and projectile did it go with? Artillery? I would like to find a good example or put a photo of one next to it in my display case. I wonder why it was painted with the X... maybe it was defective... The Google reverse photo search wasn't helpful.

Length: 4.5 inches

Width: base diameter 2 inches 1 quarter

Weight: 2.6 pounds on my bathroom scale. Not sure if its 100% accurate
