WarBaby Posted February 5 #1 Posted February 5 Stumbled upon this listing, has anyone ever seen a B.M. Co. USM8A1 scabbard with these mold marks on the front and back? Letters look a little odd to me too, but it could just be the paint.
Misfit 45 Posted February 5 #2 Posted February 5 A little hard to see from the photos, but yes, it looks odd. Marv
opseccc Posted February 5 #3 Posted February 5 The M110 wire belt hanger, canvas straps and steel throat look original. The lower section looks like a plastic replacement. On each side of the throat where it meets the lower half, there are tabs that secure the two sections.
Slufstuff Posted February 5 #4 Posted February 5 Based on the pictures, I would say that M8A1 had the scabbard body replaced with an injection molded plastic piece. Not a military repair. The metal throat and webbing looks legit. Rebuilding broken USGI M8/M8A1 scabbards using cheap repro Chinese plastic bodies is a thing on ebay. I see them for sale all the time, you really have to be careful. Many of them are not described as repaired or rebuilt.
