I have these 2 medals, each different from the other. The one with a ribbon I picked up in a cigar box full of medals from a guy who got this medal, WW1 and WW2 medals . It's numbered, 2564 . The other I can't remember where I found it. Probably some show where the person had no idea what it was. It's also numbered ,"No 8369 " . So is one a reissue or what gives ? Thanks .

Typically the Regular Army received the Mexico Service Campaign  Medal because it covers 1911-20

The National Guard Units that were federalized in 1916 received the Mexican Border Campaign Medal.

Found Randall with no problem.

Each of the medals had different criteria. Many Regulars qualified for the MBSM and not the MSM.

Thanks again. I now know and will put them side by side in my US Medal collection. I would like to have a piece of the ribbon and a ribbon bar for the 1911-20 medal. There's one on the net for $1.50 but shipped it's like $13 !! I'd rather give the money to any of you who have a spare piece of ribbon and a bar.
