Wally6 Posted January 15, 2025 #1 Posted January 15, 2025 Another local grouping I was able to add to my collection this year. The grouping of Leo J. Dwyer from Dubuque, IA. Leo was apart of the 5th ID, 19th Field Artillery Regiment E Company. In his grouping include is uniform, helmet with the 5th ID painted on, his medals dogtags, his 40/08 club medal/cap, original armistice announcement, orders from the 19th's commander, and other items as shown. Post war, Leo would become and electrician, and eventually become Commander of the Dubuque VFW in 1939. He would pass away in 1978 at the age of 86, spending his whole life in Dubuque aside from his service during ww1. Very happy to have added another extensive Dubuquer group to my collection!
Tennessee Posted May 16, 2025 #3 Posted May 16, 2025 Cool group!! As time passes, these complete groups are getting harder and harder to fine! The field artillery of the 5th Division fired some of the last shots of the war!
36thIDAlex Posted May 16, 2025 #4 Posted May 16, 2025 Very nice and complete grouping, nice to see stuff pop out together after all these years.
ScottG Posted May 18, 2025 #6 Posted May 18, 2025 Nice group and story, I was once part of the 5th ID myself and have always had a soft spot for their WWI and WWII history. Scott
