Sgt_Rock_EasyCo Posted January 14, 2025 #1 Posted January 14, 2025 Sorry, not very up on Navy stuff :)
CinamonToastCrunch Posted January 14, 2025 #2 Posted January 14, 2025 Might be a Post-WW2 1947-48 US Navy bullion rate.
Father V Posted January 14, 2025 #3 Posted January 14, 2025 Is there a label on the inside? That’s one of the things that can be used, depending on label text & style.

Agreed, the Driver/Equipment Operator specialty mark puts it 1948 or later, but other than that it could be '60s or even into the '70s. Very possibly service in Korea or Vietnam for this Seabee chief.
Sgt_Rock_EasyCo Posted January 15, 2025 Author #5 Posted January 15, 2025 The label is unmarked. Appreciate the information though.

I’m guessing your using the applied chevron crown those continued to be made until at least after 1954. I have a left arm SMC crown with applied chevrons, and, the rate was disestablished in 1948, then reestablished in 1954. My dad had a set of blues made in Hong Kong in 1965. They used applied chevron crown those and hashmarks. And, I found a set in the Navy Exchange in Sasebo Japan, in 1983.

I'm going to sell this, not sure the jacket has much value. The rate seems cool though.
