F 106 Pilot Posted January 12 #1 Posted January 12 Has anyone else noticed a seller on eBay that has been listing impossible to find Air Force and Navy patches lately. I have been collecting Air Force fighter patches over 40 years. He or she has several patches from squadrons I know did not have patches as I have talked with members of these short squadrons that were less than a year in time squadrons. Some were never even issued aircraft. However heraldry gave them a patch design so when they did received aircraft they would be ready to go. No aircraft materialized just a name on paper only squadron no need to make a patch for that type of squadron. Now he has been able to locate several patches from squadrons like that. I wish they were good but my opinion is they are not . They all have scrapbook glue on the the back. Just my opinion for what it is worth as long time collector and former fighter pilot. Just and opinion for what it is worth.
yokota57 Posted January 13 #2 Posted January 13 I see a mix of legit and questionable. We shall see.....
aerialbridge Posted January 13 #3 Posted January 13 Very cool plane (salute), last of the legendary "Century Series Fighters". May all your patches be good.
F 106 Pilot Posted January 13 Author #4 Posted January 13 Yes great old aircraft. It was a dream come true to fly it in my career. Always looked beautiful in the air.
Persian Gulf Command Posted January 13 #5 Posted January 13 I grew up about 40 miles from Griffis AFB in Rome, NY. These would rattle the windows back in the 1960's. thought it was the coolest thing to see and feel as a kid!
manayunkman Posted January 13 #6 Posted January 13 Who is the seller and what do these patches look like?

Siamundo Posted January 19 #8 Posted January 19 I think I have stumbled across this same seller and wondered the same thing. Everything looks so fresh and minty, and many of them look like they may have possibly been made in the Japan. Since most seem to have that same black dot pattern on the back from previously being in a scrapbook, I wonder if the original owner had them all made up at the time time in one of shops in Japan back in the 1960's or 70's. I know there are quite a few WW II Navy squadron and PT boat patches made this same way 20-30 years after the war ended. Just my 2 cents though 😄
easty Posted March 18 #9 Posted March 18 A lot of those patches are reproductions. Check the back of the patches on his site, the same backing material used over and over. Even back at the end of ww2 , there was a US firm making reproduction shoulder patches from WW1! . All I can say is be careful.
Bearmon Posted March 29 #10 Posted March 29 If you are speaking about KC collectibles. There are plenty of good patches being sold. The pricing is a little wacky but I have gotten some good patches from there. Lots of hard to find navy stuff. I can’t speak to the Air Force as I don’t collect many of those.
ottodog8 Posted March 29 #11 Posted March 29 I recently bought this patch from Kansas City Treasure Hunt, I assume that is who we are talking about. I've been looking for one of these, first one I've seen in years. It looks real to me.
vintageproductions Posted March 29 #12 Posted March 29 This was a huge collection that belonged to a collector who passed away in the mid-80's. The Ebay seller picked up almost 50 + binders filled with patches. There is some amazing stuff in there and there were some pieces that looked liked the stuff Harry MacAllister had made in the 60's.
Thrifter_01 Posted March 29 #13 Posted March 29 Also bought a patch from the seller for NAAS Kingsville, back has the Ace Novelty sticker. My guess is a lot of them were made by Ace.
