Wally6 Posted January 12 #1 Posted January 12 Over the summer, I was able to add another local find to my collection, a well-painted helmet belonging a local vet from my hometown of Dubuque Iowa. The veteran painted the names of French cities/battlefields, possibly where he had been(?), an American eagle on the top, his name, which was unfortunately scratched out at some point, and writing down inside "Bound for Dubuque Iowa". Being a Dubuquer, it is definitely a cornerstone item of my collection!
DauNGDWW1n2 Posted January 18 #4 Posted January 18 I can picture the owner of this helmet waiting to board the transport home painting this helmet. Looking at all the action he faced he sure beat the odds.
eaglerunner88 Posted January 21 #5 Posted January 21 What a cool local piece that displays great! Seeing as he was a member of the motor transport corps, it makes sense that he got around as much as he did.
