Hello everyone, new discovery of the week on the traces of Operation Nordwind December 1945, do we have a 105mm US ? I'm thinking of a 105 exercise, what do you think 

then a plunge, wire with its detonator, I have 5 plates that I think probably us ww2 minesweepers you can read there ( MOAD ET FOSSÉS BALAYÉS 63F )

I'm looking for information on US WW2 ammunition, more specifically on the 105mm destruction or exercise, isn't that what you call it? I think he had to learn how to prepare the assembly on inert ammunition, I have in my possession a 105 open at the rear like the smoke bomb with a metal ring I am interested in any information to learn a little more thank you to you in advance.

    Quite interesting, my old unit the 70th Division was a major participant in Nordwind and I have always had an interest in it as well.  Scott

Gerard, what I believe you have is a 4.2 inch HE, Chemical, or Illumination Mortar. I am not sure the function of the ring at the top end of the projectile. Something to do with training purposes?

there is still the ring and the shell washer for transport support as when they are in the cardboard containers This weekend I'm taking the time to clean it, we'll see better upon discovery of the shell it was mounted upside down with the rocket side in the socket, and the gargoyle bags inside the socket, and for the socket a metal model

Little tutorial to explain how the shell was found, in gauge the shell, in green the protective washer, for the arrow the rocket head in red the socket, the shell was pushed the rocket head into the socket.
