thorin6 Posted January 12 #1 Posted January 12 I’ve been waiting for someone to post a thread on knives acquired in 2024, so I thought I’d start one. Post your best finds, mistakes, interesting knives, missed opportunities, etc. from last year. When I started trying to think about 2024, I thought it wasn’t a great year, until I started really adding them all up. Upon reflection, I don’t think I did too bad. Several of my additions advanced the collection, some were just neat but cheap, and a couple were useful. In the bunch are an Ek Knife (WW2, Type 7, serial number 7H57 with original sheath), Case M3 (smooth grip, marked only CASE on guard, original sheath), Buck 119 (one line BUCK upside down with original sheath), a Western life raft knife, and an OKC3S Bayonet marked US ARMY (from when Ontario was trying to get the Army to replace the M9 with the OKC3S bayonet). One cheap WW2 Kinfolks 6-inch knife with Kinfolks marked sheath (heavily sharpened and dirty at the flea market for $10, cleaned up okay), A Ranger brass knuckle reproduction knife from the 1980s made by IMA with sheath (traded for a helmet), a Mauser bayonet turned into a fighting knife (who knows when), a Camillus M3 knife with M6 surplus sheath (I think I post on this earlier), and one Vietnam Theater knife that I bought because I felt sorry for the guy selling it (long story made short). Oh, and one steel pocket knife (1945 version with Kingston marked clevis). Feel free to post your finds.
siclfde Posted January 12 #2 Posted January 12 Picked this guy up in New Orleans. Pricey, but I like it.
SKIPH Posted January 12 #3 Posted January 12 Didn't invest as much in edged weapons this year as other things, but got a few things. Picked up a decent Camillus 6" JPK, no scabbard for a good price. Also got a commercial Marbles 6" JPK with sheath. Additionally bought a mint Camillus USN MK2 for my grandson on graduating from jump school. Got to pin on his wings. SKIP

John Parker Jr. Posted January 14 #6 Posted January 14 Well done, guys, well done! I had only a single purchase on 2024, the 6" CAMILLUS NY blade
opseccc Posted January 14 #7 Posted January 14 Everyone has some great finds for 2024. I previously added a follow up from the March 2 2024 "1968 Gerber MK2 Project "SIGMA" B56 Special Forces knife" post, with my best find in 2024. A 1968 Project SIGMA Gerber MKII. I also found a SOG Specialties "Japan" Pommel stamped Trident S2 with a rare sheath that has a Trident stamp on the lower portion below the stone pocket. My third 2024 blade acquisition is a Randall Solingen Fighter. In the late 1970's there were some leftover Solingen blade blanks from the Vietnam War, and a 5.5 inch and 7 inch Fighter was made. I have the 5.5 inch blade Fighter. The information I found about these knives states 30 blanks were used to make these knives but possibly more were made. I hope everyone acquires some incredible knives in 2025. Keep up the hunt!
hyrax222 Posted January 14 #9 Posted January 14 Very nice additions gentlemen! I looked at many hundreds of M1 and M1905 bayonets in 2024. Alas, I did not find anything I wanted... hyrax2222

lmrobil Posted January 15 #12 Posted January 15 Western L77 picked up at the SOS in 2024 and Western folder picked up in an antique shop in Las Vegas on the way home from SOS! Got these early this year in a trade with a local antique shop. Schrade Walden early pilot's knife and later blade marked Camillus. Virtually unused, although the Schrade Walden has some smudges on the blade. Still get little flakes of leather on the Camillus when I pull it from the sheath! Received a surprise call from a friend right after Christmas who said he was in town and brought the knives for me. I couldn't remember for the life of me what he was talking about. Apparently the previous time we spoke, he said he had some knives he had inherited from his grandfather and knowing that I collected, he said I could have them. His grandfather had served in the Pacific and brought back these knives and bayonets along with a Japanese officer's sword, that my friend had kept and they had been in the garage for years. The first two look to be Philippines souvenir type knives although the one looks more middle eastern along with a Japanese Ariska model 30 bayonet. Next the highlights, a US model 1905 bayonet made by OL and dated 1942 and a San Antonio Iron Works knife made from the hilt end of a Patton 1913 saber!!! Needless to say, I was very happy that he didn't forget our earlier conversation as I had. Was a good year considering my primary focus is German blades. Thx Lance
Choctaw Dan Posted January 16 #13 Posted January 16 Most of my 2024 acquisitions were non-military. However, I did acquire a near-pristine Case (not Case XX) 336-6"-Q. No pics yet, and I had to bring the brass monkeys in from the garage so will not be taking one real soon...! This means that I also have the one it replaced and will be putting it up for sale -- sooner or later.

lmrobil Posted January 18 #15 Posted January 18 There's light rust on the ricasso making the marks difficult/impossible to see. I haven't tried to clean it yet but will attempt to do so this afternoon and let you know.
lmrobil Posted January 19 #16 Posted January 19 Ok, got her cleaned up a little bit. The one side is SA 1914, the 1914 is stamped very lightly. The other side is US over 25838. Hope that helps. Lance

It's a new serial number to my list, falling between 25819, a saber sold on Ebay on 2021, and 25848, a knife with sheath seen at Montrose Auction in Sep 2020.
