Hello and thanks in advance. I apologize for the poor quality photo. I'm trying to assist someone in identifying this DUI.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Dan

The only DUI I can find that is even close is for the 102nd Infantry. Their WW2 European campaigns were Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. But I don't think so.

Thanks. I believe that the X on the DUI may be red, with rest of the device being white. Wasn't the 102nd INF a separate regiment that served in the Pacific?

If I had to guess It would be a Signal unit.. Lighting bolt through a winged foot….

Hey Jump,

Are you able to upload a zoomed in photo? It looks like it may be the 9th Signal Company, assigned to the 9th Inf Div. Unfortunately he's positioned so we can't see the SSI.

Thank you. After obtaining his service number, I was finally able to determine that he was assigned as an infantry replacement to Co C 119th INF Reg, 30th ID in France on 17 July 1944. However, I cannot determine what unit(s) he served in prior to that. It is possible that he could have originally been Signal Corps.
