Uniforms of the Day
Posted

Due to the fact that I have collected WWI 78th variations for over 50 years, it's not often I find something that is a wild departure from anything I have encountered before. So, I was beyond delighted to acquire this one recently. This uniform belonged to Nicholas De Vita, an Italian immigrant, who settled in Albany NY. Aside from his jacket and pants, the group included his gas mask. The bag features an Engineer castle and a bridge below. De Vita was a Bugler with Co. E, 303rd Engineers. I paid crazy money for it. But had to have it!

Beautiful uniform, first I’ve seen of the 78th in that style. Congrats

That Bugler First Class chevron is very nice, too.
