Teamski Posted December 27, 2024 #1 Posted December 27, 2024 Hey guys! I haven't been as present on the board as I used to be. A lot of that has been due to getting a job at a military museum which necessarily restricts what I can collect. So, collecting in general for me has slowed quite a bit. However, that allowed me to dedicate more time to other hobbies like gaming. Recently, I have been really hitting the paints to "collect" a good library of 1/300 scale aircraft for miniature wargaming. These are primarily for Check Your 6! but can be used for any set of miniatures rules. This really scratches both the collecting and modeling parts of my brain. These aren't all that I have done yet. I have been doing 8 of each fighter and 9 of each bomber. It is really fun to "get it right!" -Ski
Proud Kraut Posted December 29, 2024 #3 Posted December 29, 2024 Awesome paintwork, thanks for sharing!
Scott C. Posted January 1, 2025 #4 Posted January 1, 2025 Very cool. You must have very steady hands for such detail work at that scale.
Teamski Posted January 2, 2025 Author #5 Posted January 2, 2025 Thanks! I'm fortunate at my age, that is for sure..... -Ski
4th Miss Cav Posted January 7, 2025 #7 Posted January 7, 2025 Very nice. Is that Army painter brand that you are using. I rally like their paints.

Flight simulators and air battles are a separate pleasure. I like to play PC games, especially those with air battles, for example, IL-2 Sturmovik, War Thunder. But besides this, there are other games that I constantly play. Dota, cs, I study new gaming platforms on https://kaszinoworld.com/weiss-bet/ where I recently read about advantages and disadvantages. If I only played airplanes, I would probably go crazy. But they are still a priority for me, since I wanted to fly a plane since childhood. You are a really creative person! Painting miniatures on such a scale is cool. It turns out really cool.
Teamski Posted March 15, 2025 Author #9 Posted March 15, 2025 Thanks everybody! The work continues. And, yes, I use Citadel and Army Painter paints as they are water based which allows me to use Dulcote to seal them.
Scott C. Posted March 20, 2025 #10 Posted March 20, 2025 Love the white & blue canopy "glass" effect. If you found the right size punches and some thin acrylic sheet, you could add simulated spinning prop disks.
Brian Dentino Posted March 21, 2025 #11 Posted March 21, 2025 Very cool idea, Ski! Man, I would have to wear jewelers glasses to even see all the small details on these little guys. Love the variations and accuracy of the colors you have on the various planes from different combatant country's. You are going to be the coolest war gamer in the group!
Teamski Posted July 20, 2025 Author #12 Posted July 20, 2025 Thanks for all the comments. I continue to work'em. I just attended Historicon in Lancaster PA this weekend which is one of the world's largest miniatures wargaming conventions. If you can, I highly recommend any military history buff to go to one. You will meet some of the most knowledgeable folks on military history there. Of course, my wallet is quite a bit lighter..... -Ski
Teamski Posted August 22, 2025 Author #13 Posted August 22, 2025 Just completed 18 B-17's. Here is one of the trays. Really happy with how they turned out. -Ski
Proud Kraut Posted August 26, 2025 #14 Posted August 26, 2025 That´s an impressive bomber wing, well done. Thanks for sharing!
dmar836 Posted November 20, 2025 #15 Posted November 20, 2025 So, would you consider doing a review on how the game works? Dave
Teamski Posted November 24, 2025 Author #16 Posted November 24, 2025 Check your 6! is a pretty easy game to learn. Each aircraft have stats covering speed, agility and robustness and armament. You use a movement chart and plot the movement of the aircraft on a game map using hexes. Airspeed and altitude is tracked by dice on the bases. Modifiers are important as pilot experience gives benefits in tailing, recovery from loss of control (stalling usually) and shooting. There are a ton of scenarios for the game system. Now you can use whatever scale models you want, but usually 1:600 (small!) 1:285, 1:200 and 1:144 (large) are used. I stick with 1:285 as it is works really well with the scale on the table. What is cool with the models is that you can use any set of rules, even boardgames such as Whistling Death or the classic Air Force. -Ski
Teamski Posted November 24, 2025 Author #18 Posted November 24, 2025 Now, I have worked on new stands that allow for altitude changes and featuring gimbles to bank the planes around. They worked out really well.
Teamski Posted November 24, 2025 Author #19 Posted November 24, 2025 Still working on the planes...... :)
Teamski Posted December 19, 2025 Author #21 Posted December 19, 2025 Fort Miles had a wargaming night in their 16" gun casemate last week. So, I brought the game along and had a great time.
Proud Kraut Posted December 22, 2025 #22 Posted December 22, 2025 I really admire the detailed painting of your planes. Great to see them in action!

Teamski Posted December 23, 2025 Author #24 Posted December 23, 2025 Thanks guys! We collect the material history to learn, preserve and admire the stories of the soldiers, sailors and marines of all nations. Wargaming really brings those stories to life. -Ski
