robinb Posted December 26, 2024 #1 Posted December 26, 2024 A recent find. I thought it would display well as a saddle blanket on my mule manikin. I have been looking all day for any reference to the 36th MG but couldn't find anything.
aefcav Posted December 26, 2024 #2 Posted December 26, 2024 Looks great, just turn it around with stencil at rear corner. you will see plenty of non reg blankets stenciled for different outfits, this would have been under a m1904 Art saddle no doubt.
robinb Posted December 26, 2024 Author #3 Posted December 26, 2024 Thanks for the input. Should the marking be on the near or off side?
AustinO Posted December 27, 2024 #4 Posted December 27, 2024 Robin, that's the Machine Gun Company of the 36th Infantry Regt (12th Division). If it was MGB it would have M and G on the sides with the Company letter below.
robinb Posted December 27, 2024 Author #5 Posted December 27, 2024 I didn't know that the way the unit marking read was also an indicator of the unit. Interesting.
