butcher Posted April 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2009 I just got this Zippo lighter from a vet, will ask for the story behind it , checked out with the Zippo guys and they say its a 1959 Slimm Zippo lighter, made in Niagara Falls ,Ontario, Canada ( From 1949 to 2002 Zippos were also produced in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada ) ! Zippo is engraved with a Green Beret sign , Beret & dagger, Parachute Qualification Badge, Basic , Parachute Qualification Badge, Master on the other side of the case ! The engraving was done with special special care as it is very deep !!!

Bob Hudson Posted April 7, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2009 I think I saw this on eBay ....? Here's the one you saw on ebay: it's a 1974 - As for the one shown above being made in Canada - the "Zippo guys" may have provided wrong information. A site about the Canadian Zippos at http://www.zippoclick.com/collecting/zippoCanada.aspx says,: "Canadian Zippo lighters were not date code stamped until 1987. Prior to 1987, the lighter was stamped with the Zippo logo and “Niagara Falls, Ontario" The Zippo company's own website confirms that: That lighter does not seem to have a patent number on it nor a location: I had thought they all had the number and were marked with either Nigara Falls or Bradford PA.
