River Rat 1 Posted November 28 #1 Posted November 28 Just bought this today off eBay. Looks in great shape being from 1943. Been wanting one of these for a while to ad to my Bridge \ Pilot House and Navigation collection. Notice none have posted one of these. When a look out on the port or starboard of fantail lookout we used binoculars don't remember these, but the quartermaster might have had one.
Salvage Sailor Posted November 29 #2 Posted November 29 We kept one of these Spyglass in the pilot house/chart table lockers on both of my Salvage ships. It was on the Quartermasters' inventory but we didn't use them much, 95% of the time we used binoculars or the Big Eyes.
River Rat 1 Posted December 2 Author #4 Posted December 2 Well got it today. Even came with a setup for putting it on a tripod anyone know what type of tripod was used. Has the part that screws onto the tripod and spyglass. The inside lenses are a little dirty might have to send it to someone to service the lenses for a clean. Think I would mess it up if I tried to take it apart. You can see the tripod mount on the wooden box did not know that came with it.
River Rat 1 Posted December 2 Author #5 Posted December 2 Never seen these before with mounts for a tripod.
