Redleg130 Posted November 23 #1 Posted November 23 I started with an M1950 tent so I could do amateur radio in a camping setup, and ended up with a sort of communications shelter setup over time. I suppose this makes me a collector of sorts. I am a retired Signal Corps servicemember from the Army. I have an M37 truck (1/4 ton truck used from the 50s-70s) and an M35a2 (2 1/2 ton truck used in the US from the 50s until just recently). The M35a2 is the shelter type, actually a M185 but the more common similar version is the M109 shop van. The shelter truck houses the communications gear and the M37 carries the camping stuff. My family generally joins for these camping trips and occasionally ill have other Signal Corps friends join as well. I have a variety of various things that comprise the setup, field desk, field phones, and other nick naks I have picked up over the years. My goal is to approximate a radioteletype shelter from the cold war era for amateur radio and show. People seem to be interested in the setup, so I do try to display it at various events, or welcome visitors when I am camping. I am currently working on integrating a Model 28 teletype into the setup and hope to add a Model 15 teletype at some point. Any communications gear is interesting to me, but these items seem to be scarce these days. My setup is nowhere near complete, and certainly not 'period correct' but ill inch my way there eventually.
