Jcoll84 Posted November 20, 2024 #1 Posted November 20, 2024 Ran across an interesting picture today, of a Col. Wiercinski serving in Afghanistan in 2002, sporting a Vietnam era M1956 pouch. He joined the Army in 1979, well into the ALICE era, so I'm guessing this was a private purchase. Always neat to see this sort of stuff, and wanted to share with y'all.
Justin Posted November 21, 2024 #2 Posted November 21, 2024 Also looks like he has an equally faded M56 canteen pouch as well.
Stout Posted November 21, 2024 #3 Posted November 21, 2024 Thank you for sharing ! Very interesting !
mrrm Posted November 23, 2024 #4 Posted November 23, 2024 I concur on the possible canteen cover as well.
Jcoll84 Posted November 23, 2024 Author #5 Posted November 23, 2024 Looks like it! I didn't even notice it on my first look

Hell in 1984 I was a M60 machinegunner and issued a Mills Khaki .45 pouch brand spanking new with Nov 1918 stamped inside and a russet Boyt .45 holster
Rhscott Posted November 24, 2024 #7 Posted November 24, 2024 That LBV set was the worse ever. At least those have mesh backings rather than the solid ones.
